Christopher’s Trader Interview
Introduction
• I am a young, enthusiastic graduate with a first-class honours degree in finance and investments.
• I am ambitious and strive to learn and improve both personally and professionally on a daily basis.
• I am inquisitive and entrepreneurial; I’m always on the lookout for new business ventures.
• I have a passionate interest in ‘all things automobile’ especially supercars.
What motivated you to become a funded trader?
At 15 years old, I watched a programme called ‘Millions by the Minute’ which detailed all the different types of traders; ranging from retail traders to hedge fund managers. This sparked my initial interest and my passion for the financial markets has expanded significantly since then and I aspire to be the best trader I can be.
Why did you apply to Alphachain?
I applied for Alphachain Capital as the company had been established by experienced traders who could offer a graduate like myself the opportunity to learn an enormous amount. I liked the idea of joining a young, small company so that I could learn directly from senior members of staff and grow with the company. Alphachain also has a keen focus on cryptocurrencies and offers its own specialist cryptocurrency trader programme which was of particular interest to me because of my background.
What has been your best performing day and why?
My best performing day was a day at the end of March 2020, I entered on 2 trades throughout that day that went on to hit my target profit.
What has been your strengths while managing a funded account?
I believe one of my strengths while managing a funded account is patience for entry of a setup. I have been able to control the urge to enter when the price is moving and not let the fear of missing out tarnish my judgement.
What has been your worst performing day and why?
I believe my worst performing day was not necessarily the most negative day in terms of account value but when my strategy was fairly new to me and I wasn’t obeying the strict rules within my trade plan.
What has been your weakness while managing a funded account?
The psychological impact of trading a funded account has definitely been a challenge. More recently I have been able to control my emotions when trading which subsequently has led me to be more consistent over recent periods.
When do you feel stressed and why?
It’s natural to feel stressed when things aren’t going the way you have planned but stress can be managed and reversed so that you can learn from the experience in the future.
What challenges have you faced?
The Covid-19 pandemic has definitely been a huge challenge during my trading experience. With the markets being extremely volatile, it is a hard time for a beginner trader like myself, but the experience gained through this unprecedented time has been rewarding. Also due to the social distancing rules, having to work remotely from home and not having my mentor or colleagues in close proximity in the office to discuss my trade ideas has been a difficult, but with frequent webinars and keeping in touch on a daily basis it has been manageable.
Which benefit have you enjoyed the most at Alphachain and why?
The community feel of Alphachain has definitely been the highlight of my trading experience. On a day to day basis everyone shares their trade ideas in the chat room, allowing me to see other colleague’s thought processes.
What areas will you be looking to improve?
I am definitely looking to improve and refine the edge in my trading over time so I can become a more profitable trader.
Where do you see yourself in a year’s time?
In a year’s time, I hope to be still trading cryptocurrencies but also hope to be trading other asset classes. I also hope to create and test new strategies that can be used in the future.
